All set for summer!
We had a productive weekend with my father in town and we now have our grill and patio furniture!!! Most importantly, we have our "grill containment system". My dad spent quite a bit of time at the hardware store discussing security with one of the employees and our grill is bolted to the patio in such a way that we'll probably sell it with the house. Love it! We've also beefed up security on the gate and his next project will be to heighten our fence for added privacy. It's turning into quite the lovely courtyard. Matt is so enamored with the grill that he has cooked dinner two nights in a row!!! I'm thrilled with this and can definitely confine myself to side dishes for the grilling season, which he insists is all-year-round. Cool!
My dad actually stayed at our house this weekend, said the futon was pretty comfortable. Bill had a hard time of it... what with his paralyzing fear of people that aren't Matt or me. He spent a lot of time on the stairs looking at him, hoping he'd leave. At one point, Bill was in the kitchen window watching my dad outside and I actually heard him growl as Dad approached the door. Funny thing though... when Dad fell asleep on the couch, Bill walked right up to him and sniffed him. Of course my father had fun with this and kept calling him "hey Bill, come here...." When we got back from the airport after dropping him off, Bill was fine again. He's going to have to learn to accept people sometime. We do plan to have houseguests fairly frequently.
As for me, I'm in the throes of a spring cold. If anybody knows where my balance is, I'd appreciate having it returned.
